How we checked this: Compared from official docs and pricing pages as of 2026-10-23. We haven't tested these tools hands-on. Every vendor price below comes from the vendor's own pricing or help pages, retrieved 2026-10-23; the worked-example totals are our own math.

An AI receptionist for contractors has paid entry prices from $29 per month for Jobber's add-on (which needs a Jobber plan; Jobber doesn't say whether billed monthly or annually on annual Jobber plans, or whether it's per seat or per account) to $300 per month for 30 calls on Smith.ai's live-receptionist Human-first Starter, billed monthly, as of Oct. 23, 2026 [2][9]. Smith.ai's AI-first Pro plan is $150 per month for 75 calls, billed monthly; Smith.ai doesn't say whether it's per seat or per account [1]. Smith.ai also has a $0 Free plan for 25 calls [1]. The catch is the unit: each vendor counts something different, so compare on your own call volume.

For the wider tool list, see our guide to AI tools for small business.

How do AI receptionist vendors bill?

The five vendors in this comparison use four different billing units. Read this before you compare any two prices:

Smith.ai, Rosie, Goodcall and Jobber don't say whether a plan is per seat or per account [1][4][6][9]. My AI Front Desk says it has "no per-seat or per-call fees" [5].

What does Smith.ai cost for a contractor?

AI-first starts with a Free plan at $0 per month for 25 calls, then $3.00 per call, billed monthly as of 2026-10-23 [1]. Pro is $150 per month for 75 calls, billed monthly, $270 per month for 150 calls, billed monthly, or $500 per month for 300 calls, billed monthly; Smith.ai doesn't say whether it's per seat or per account [1]. Enterprise starts at $500 per month for 300 calls, billed monthly [1].

Smith.ai lists overage rates from $3.00 down to $2.10 per call, billed monthly, but doesn't label which rate belongs to which plan, so we matched them by column order; Smith.ai doesn't say whether it's per seat or per account [1]. Plans are month-to-month with 30 days' notice to cancel [1].

Human-first uses live receptionists. Starter is $300 per month for 30 calls ($11.50 per extra call), Basic is $810 per month for 90 calls ($10.50 per extra call) and Pro is $2,100 per month for 300 calls ($8.50 per extra call), billed monthly as of 2026-10-23; Smith.ai doesn't say whether it's per seat or per account [2]. Smith.ai offers 10% off for a 12-month commitment but doesn't print that price, and lists "No setup fees" [2]. For new clients it lists a one-time refund of your plan and add-ons, up to $1,000 (overage excluded), if you ask within 30 days, though the same page also says "in the first two weeks" [2].

Smith.ai's hybrid page lists AI-first from $1.60 per call and Human-first from $7 per call, as of 2026-10-23; Smith.ai doesn't say whether it's per seat or per account [3]. The hybrid page doesn't say whether it's billed monthly or annually [3].

Smith.ai names Clio, Zapier and Calendly integrations [1]. Jobber, Housecall Pro and ServiceTitan are not listed on the vendor's pages as of Oct 2026 [1].

Not for: a crew that gets a lot of new spam calls. Calls from known spammers are filtered out before the AI answers and don't count, but other spam calls the AI answers count toward your quota beyond an allowance to remove up to 10% of your calls each billing cycle [1].

What does Rosie cost per minute?

Rosie's Professional plan is $49 per month for 250 minutes, Scale is $149 per month for 1,000 minutes and Growth is $299 per month for 2,000 minutes, billed monthly as of 2026-10-23; Rosie doesn't say whether it's per seat or per account [4]. Billed annually, those plans are $41, $124 and $249 per month ($490, $1,490 and $2,990 per year) [4].

Rosie says there's no per-minute overage: if you go over, it moves you to the next plan at that plan's standard price [4]. It lists a 7-day free trial and no contracts or cancellation fees, but doesn't say whether the trial needs a card [4].

You forward calls to a Rosie number, so you keep your existing number, and recordings are deleted after 30 days [4]. Calendar booking (Google Calendar, Calendly, Acuity and Appointlet) is on Scale and higher, and CRMs connect through Zapier [4]. Jobber, Housecall Pro and ServiceTitan are not listed on the vendor's pages as of Oct 2026 [4].

Not for: booking jobs on the Professional plan ($49 per month for 250 minutes, billed monthly). Calendar booking starts on Scale at $149 per month for 1,000 minutes, billed monthly [4]; Rosie doesn't say whether it's per seat or per account [4].

What does My AI Front Desk cost?

My AI Front Desk (also called Frontdesk) sells Business-in-a-Box at $99 per month for 200 minutes, billed monthly, or $79 per month billed annually upfront, as of 2026-10-23 [5]. The vendor says there are "no per-seat or per-call fees", no contracts and "no hidden fees"; Partner and Enterprise are custom [5].

After 200 minutes, each extra minute uses 25 credits ($0.25) from a monthly pool of 1,000 credits, about 40 more minutes [5]. When the pool runs out, auto-reload adds 1,000 credits for a one-time $10 per reload [5].

The trial is 7 days with no credit card required, and there's no permanently free plan [5]. The vendor doesn't say how much usage the trial includes [5]. Zapier is on every plan, the API is on Partner and Enterprise, and Jobber, Housecall Pro and ServiceTitan are not listed on the vendor's pages as of Oct 2026 [5].

Not for: owners who want lots of automated callbacks. Business-in-a-Box caps outbound calls at 20 a day and keeps the last 200 call logs [5].

What does Goodcall cost per caller?

Goodcall's Starter plan is $79 per month for 100 unique customers, billed monthly, then 79¢ per extra unique customer; Growth is $129 per month for 500 unique customers, billed monthly, then 26¢ each; Scale is $299 per month for 2,000 unique customers, billed monthly, then 15¢ each, as of 2026-10-23 [6]. Goodcall doesn't say whether it's per seat or per account, and estimates those tiers at about 150, 750 and 3,000 calls [6].

Goodcall bills month to month, has no annual plan and includes a local number [7]. It has no free trial (a free demo agent instead), no pause option and no plan below $79 per month, billed monthly; Goodcall doesn't say whether it's per seat or per account [6][7].

It connects to Google Calendar, Google Sheets and HighLevel, with other systems through an API tool or MCP server [7]. Jobber, Housecall Pro and ServiceTitan are not listed on the vendor's pages as of Oct 2026 [7].

Not for: anyone who needs a toll-free, Canadian or international number, or text replies. Goodcall numbers are local US numbers only for now, and the number can't receive text replies yet. You can't port a number yourself yet, but you can forward your existing number to Goodcall [7].

What does Jobber Receptionist cost?

Jobber Receptionist is a $29 per month add-on, then $0.79 per extra conversation, as of 2026-10-23; Jobber doesn't say whether it's billed monthly or annually on annual Jobber plans, and Jobber doesn't say whether it's per seat or per account [8][9]. Jobber's help pages give different figures for how many conversations the add-on includes [9][10].

Jobber sells the add-on on "select plans" without naming them, and says Plus includes the Receptionist with unlimited usage [9]. Add-ons aren't available during the Jobber trial [10].

You need a Jobber plan. Core is $49 per month for 1 user, billed monthly with no commitment, and Plus is $499 per month (5 users), billed monthly, as of 2026-10-23 [8]. Jobber's 14-day free trial of its Grow plan needs no card [8].

Jobber says the Receptionist answers calls and texts 24/7, books visits and works from your Jobber account data [11]. It needs a Jobber dedicated phone number (US, Canada or UK), and only admins can change its settings [9]. Housecall Pro and ServiceTitan are not listed on the vendor's pages as of Oct 2026 [11].

Not for: anyone who doesn't already use Jobber. A Jobber plan is required [8][9].

Worked cost example: what do 100 and 300 calls a month cost?

This is our math from the vendors' listed prices, not vendor pricing [1][2][4][5][6][8][9]. No vendor states a typical call length, so for minute-billed services we assume an illustrative 2 minutes per call: 100 calls is 200 minutes and 300 calls is 600 minutes.

Goodcall counts unique callers, so its rows assume each call comes from a different customer [6].

Our estimated monthly cost at 100 and 300 calls, as of 2026-10-23 (our math from vendor pricing pages retrieved 2026-10-23; minute rows assume 2 minutes per call) [1][2][4][5][6][8][9]
Option Unit 100 calls a month (our math) [1] 300 calls a month (our math) [1] Source
Smith.ai AI-first Per call Free plan: $0 + 75 extra calls × $3.00 = $225; or Pro 75: $150 + 25 × $2.50 = $212.50 (overage tier matched by column order); billed monthly Pro 300: $500 per month for 300 calls, billed monthly [1]
Smith.ai Human-first Per call Basic: $810 + 10 × $10.50 = $915; Starter: $300 + 70 × $11.50 = $1,105; billed monthly Pro: $2,100 per month for 300 calls, billed monthly [2]
Rosie Per minute (2 min per call assumed) 200 minutes fits Professional: $49 per month for 250 minutes, billed monthly ($41 per month billed annually) 600 minutes fits Scale: $149 per month for 1,000 minutes, billed monthly ($124 per month billed annually) [4]
My AI Front Desk Per minute (2 min per call assumed) 200 minutes fits the plan: $99 per month for 200 minutes, billed monthly ($79 per month billed annually) 400 extra minutes × 25 credits = 10,000 credits; the first 1,000 come from the monthly pool, then 9 reloads × $10 = $90; $99 + $90 = $189 per month, billed monthly (at the $0.25 per minute list rate it's $99 + 400 × $0.25 = $199) [5]
Goodcall Per unique caller Starter: $79 per month for 100 unique customers, billed monthly Growth: $129 per month for 500 unique customers, billed monthly (Starter would be $79 + 200 × $0.79 = $237) [6]
Jobber Receptionist Per conversation (add-on) $29 per month add-on + $0.79 per conversation beyond the included amount + a Jobber plan (Core at $49 per month for 1 user, billed monthly); no total, because Jobber's help pages give different figures Same as the 100-call column, or Plus at $499 per month (5 users), billed monthly, with unlimited Receptionist usage [8][9][10]

On these assumptions, Rosie's Professional, $49 per month for 250 minutes, billed monthly ($41 per month billed annually), is the lowest worked total at 100 calls, and Goodcall's $129 per month for 500 unique customers, billed monthly, is the lowest monthly-billed total we can work out at 300 calls if every caller is different [4][6]. Billed annually, Rosie's Scale is lower at $124 per month ($1,490 per year); Rosie doesn't say whether it's per seat or per account [4]. We can't total Jobber, because its help pages give different figures for the included conversations [9][10].

Longer calls push the minute-billed rows up, and repeat callers push Goodcall's rows down.

Common mistake: comparing a per-minute price to a per-call price

A $99 per month plan for 200 minutes, billed monthly, and a $150 per month plan for 75 calls, billed monthly, aren't the same kind of deal [1][5]. Before you compare them, turn both into your own monthly volume: count last month's calls, guess an average length, and then run the numbers the way the table above does.
